When you decide to redesign the learning spaces in your school or district, the path from idea to action requires a number of steps. Andrew Taylor, the Director of Technology and CIO with Byram Hills Central School District in Armonk, New York, joined two of his technology coordinators in this webinar. Together, they shared their research, iterations, and essential questions that have helped to guide the design of the new spaces in their schools, and purchase technology equipment. Their collaborative approach has helped them create the momentum and buy-in that has supported their initiatives. In this webinar, learn how to:

  • Create a low-cost, voice-activated classroom using common IoT elements
  • Ensure all elements are designed to enhance student learning
  • Choose the right furniture, wall coverings, and technology to encourage active collaboration

The goal at Byram Hills Central School District was not to build a singular space, but rather stimulate a collegial conversation around learning spaces and provide teachers opportunities to incorporate the ideas into their classroom. Design decisions can help foster a maker culture and empower students to take control of their own learning. Future plans and growth of the district were also discussed.
