Organizing Place Value Tools in a Developmental Progression
This webinar is part one of a three-part series entitled Extending Place Value Understanding from Smaller to Larger Numbers. The series covers research-informed strategies for supporting upper elementary students as they extend their thinking from numbers up to 1000 (which can be more easily modeled) to larger numbers, which are less readily modeled and more abstract to understand.
In this presentation, Dr. Sara Delano Moore explored a variety of concrete virtual models for place value, including both concrete and ten frames, base ten blocks, and number lines. Learn about the attributes of the models and their sequence in a developmental progression.
