Meeting the Adult ELL Challenge
According to U.S. Census information, an estimated 25 million people in the United States do not speak English well or at all. For educators, engaging this population of non-English speakers requires a different set of services, including adult education programs. Unfortunately, such programs suffer when districts face resource constraints. In this webinar, Tiffaney Barnes of Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) in Central Florida shared how they used technology-based learning to help improve learner outcomes for beginning and intermediate adult ELLs. Tiffaney explained how OCPS extends English Language Learning beyond the classroom, increases engagement and participation by complementing classroom instruction, and improves CASAS scores with the help of an adult-engaging technology solution.
