A growing body of research reveals that individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) have a heightened interest in all forms of visual materials. This, coupled with strong visual processing skills, makes individuals with autism excellent candidates to benefit from technology-based instruction. In this webinar, Educational Technology Specialist Christian Karter discussed current technologies (e.g., hardware, software, apps) that have proven effective for individuals on the autism spectrum. With 10 years of experience utilizing technology in a school setting with more than 150 students on the autism spectrum, Christian shared his deep knowledge of what works and what doesn’t.

In addition to thoroughly investigating the technology, Christian explained how it can be utilized most effectively in both school and home environments. He also identified emerging technologies that are entering the marketplace and discussed how these will impact individuals with autism. Resources and tips will be provided.
