Teachers have hopes for young people to share their voices, connect, and learn with others in a global, digitally-mediated world. The challenges of digital spaces create opportunities for uncivil, hateful, or overall trivial and unsubstantial dialogue.  In this webinar for the edWeb.net Digital Citizenship community, presenter Chris Sloan, High School Teacher and PhD Candidate at Michigan State University, shared how to foster civil, meaningful and respectful dialogue among young people in digital spaces, particularly for cross-cultural awareness and learning. He discussed specific techniques such as “conversation moves” and thinking routines to support civil, positive dialogue online, with a focus on middle and high school students.
