Flipped Learning – You’ve read about it, maybe you have even attempted it.  Educators in elementary and secondary schools for all disciplines are embracing Flipped Learning.  Our community kicked off its webinar program with a three-part Flipped Learning Primer that will cover all the basics of this powerful type of learning. Discover how to move direct instruction from the group learning space to the individual learning space so that class time can be used for active problem solving by students and one-to-one or small group tutoring with the teacher. Have students come to class ready to jump into the lesson, answer questions, work on collaborative projects, and explore the content further by providing short lectures for them to watch as many times as they wish on their own time. Join Flipped Learning Network’s Jonathan Bergmann and Kristin Daniels to learn more about Flipped Learning and how to reach all of your students in every class every day.  They introduce the concept of Flipped Learning, where educators actively transfer the responsibility and ownership of learning to their students.

About the Community
The Flipped Learning Community is a professional learning community for educators who wish to move from a teacher-center classroom to a student-centered learning environment. Flipped Learning occurs when the direct instruction is moved from the group learning space to the individual learning space.

As a member of the community, you’ll be invited to participate in our free monthly webinar series with experts in the field.  You’ll have access to all of the recorded webinars, presentations, and resources, providing you with an online learning center you can return to at any time.  CE certificates are provided for attending and viewing the webinars.

About the Presenters
Secretary/treasurer for the FLN, Jonathan Bergmann believes educators should ask one guiding question: What is best for my students in my classroom? To the best of his abilities he has done this in his 25 years as a high school science teacher. He received the Presidential Award for Excellence for Math and Science Teaching in 2002 and was named semi-finalist for the Colorado Teacher of the Year in 2010. His bachelor’s degree is in Science Education from Oregon State University and he holds a Master’s degree from the University of Colorado at Denver in Instructional Technology.  He is currently the Lead Technology Facilitator for the Joseph Sears School in Kenilworth, IL.

Kristin Daniels has been a Technology Integration Specialist for the Stillwater (MN) Area Public Schools since 2011. She has a B.A in Psychology from Northwestern University and a M.Ed in Elementary Education from DePaul University. Before Stillwater, she worked for ISTE affiliate, Technology and Information Educational Services (TIES), in St. Paul, MN as an Education Technology Specialist. Currently she supports Flipped Classroom teachers and is implementing FlippedPD in Stillwater elementary schools. Kristin has been “flipping” professional development for her client teachers by providing digital resources and working with schools to create job-embedded, coaching opportunities during the school day.
