View the webinar “Foundations of Decimals”

This webinar is the first of two webinars examining decimal fractions.  In this session, Sara Delano Moore, Ph.D., Director of Mathematics and Science at ETA hand2mind, examines early models of decimals and connections to fractions and place value.  Money is often a child’s first experience with decimals.  What can we do as teachers to develop a solid understanding of money and lay a strong foundation for decimals?  Sara shares how to use place value as an instance of patterning to develop decimal concepts.  She also explores fractions with denominators of 10 and 100 as a connecting point between decimals and fractions.
