Our students can text and tweet… but when it comes to using technology for teaching and learning, there’s often a skills gap. Educators have often discovered that 21st century digital natives often benefit from curriculum and instruction that emphasizes core digital literacy skills, from keyboarding to word processing, creating multimedia presentations to understanding digital citizenship.

Mary Knight, Director of Technology for Flagstaff Unified School in Arizona presented a thought-provoking, practical session covering these critical digital literacy topics:

  • Techniques for integrating digital literacy into the curriculum
  • New tools and resources for teaching digital literacy
  • Connecting the dots between digital literacy and the skills needed for online assessment success
  • Ensuring district-wide consistency of digital literacy instruction
  • Providing a continuum of digital literacy instruction from the early grades through secondary school
  • Making digital literacy and digital citizenship priorities and involving the larger learning community in the initiative

From starting the digital literacy conversation with district and site leaders to implementing a successful program, Mary Knight shared her insights and experiences in Flagstaff. This webinar will benefit Curriculum Directors, Principals (Elementary/Middle/Junior), Technology Coordinators & Directors, Classroom Teachers Grades K-8, School Librarians & Media Specialists, Assessment Specialists, and Title I Coordinators.
