CreativityArt-infused education is a compelling way to help children learn. Research shows that using art across the curriculum increases student engagement. Art builds 21st century readiness and develops the 4C’s: Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication, and Collaboration skills. In the kickoff webinar for the new edWeb.net community, Champion Creativity, participants explored what creativity means and how to use the Creative Cycle in common, everyday experiences. The Creative Cycle: Inspire- Explore-Create-Evaluate, is a process that pertains to any creative experience and is not limited to visual art. Webinar presenter, Cheri Sterman, Crayola Director of Education, encouraged participants to use the Creative Cycle to “think out-of-the-box” and consider how creativity enriches many school experiences. Cheri dispelled common creativity myths and explored how curiosity and confidence impact creativity.  She encouraged attendees to consider their favorite definition of creativity and explore essential questions for insights on creative confidence.  Attendees also learned to apply the Creative Cycle to a personal creative experience, and that creativity is not limited to visual art. View the webinar recording to reflect with Cheri on arts-infused education and how it builds 21st century skills.
