Open Educational Resources (OERs) are free, publicly available educational resources that anyone can copy, use, adapt, and re-share. OERs are powerful teaching tools that can specifically address your learning objectives and your students’ background understanding. It is possible to create your own OERs with a bit of training and support. In this session, presented by the Open Educational Resources (OER) community on edWeb.net, attendees had a look at some OERs – to give you a sense of what already exists and what is possible. Julie Willcott, science teacher and Apple Distinguished Educator, addressed how to get started creating your own OER courses and books. Julie also went over copyright issues and discussed how to compile the best content for your students.
