Charting the Course for Language Learning in a Blended-Learning Environment

Imagine a school district where personalized language-learning enables elementary students to learn Spanish and Mandarin. Envision school buildings where anyone, including teachers, paraprofessionals and cafeteria staff, can experience learning a new language; and students benefit by engaging in conversations with native adult speakers in a variety of school settings. This is the environment West Linn-Wilsonville School District administrators created to develop 21st century skills that embrace understanding languages and world cultures.

In this month’s Using Technology for Language Instruction webinar, Kathy Ludwig, Assistant Superintendent for this Oregon district, discussed best practices for charting a course to blended world language learning adoption.  She shared perspectives and insights based on her own successful implementation experience so far.  Kathy also suggested support and resource ideas for the unique challenges of implementing and adopting this kind of program.

Quotes from the session:

“Thank you, Kathy, for a fantastic presentation and sharing your story as well as best practices for implementation.”

“Both of you are ROCK STARS, thank you for all your work in making this a success”

“I was so very impressed and learned so much!!”
